Litigation Associate

Donovan Hatem LLP is a multi-practice Boston-based law firm offering sophisticated and specialized legal counsel to architectural and engineering firms, as well as a diverse clientele of public and private companies, and individuals. We are seeking an experienced attorney licensed in Massachusetts (other New England states a plus) to join our Litigation practice. In this role, the attorney will evaluate, manage and monitor significant, complex disputes and litigation matters involving large and complex construction projects on a national basis, engage in risk management of potential claims, develop litigation and resolution strategies, advise clients, manage local counsel and experts, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement strategic activities in the management of these matters. You will also develop liability exposure for insureds, managing all aspects of litigation including attendance at mediations, arbitrations and trials.

Candidate should have 3 – 5 years’ litigation experience, preferably within the construction industry and, in particular, with design and construction professionals and have experience briefing and arguing substantive motions and with depositions.

Donovan Hatem LLP is seeking two or more attorneys to join its Professional Practice Group, which provides legal counseling, risk management, claims monitoring and dispute resolution services to architects, engineers, construction managers and their professional liability insurers. We provide these services on small and large scale projects in the United States, Canada and elsewhere around the globe. In this role you will be on the forefront of issues facing design and construction professionals, and will evaluate, manage, and provide strategic direction on significant complex disputes and litigation matters. You will also engage in risk management of potential high-value construction/design claims, develop resolution strategies, manage local counsel and collaborate with stakeholders and industry experts to prosecute, defend and resolve complex disputes between sophisticated parties. We currently have opportunities at both the junior and senior attorney levels. Experience in the design and/or construction industry is helpful, but it is not as important as having an intellectual curiosity about modern construction projects that are changing the way that we live and work.

Litigation Paralegal

Donovan Hatem LLP is a multi-practice law firm offering sophisticated and specialized legal counsel to architectural and engineering firms, as well as a diverse clientele of public and private companies, and individuals.

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our team in our New York office. This individual will provide essential support to attorneys in all phases of the litigation process. The ideal candidate will have experience with legal research, preparing written discovery and pleadings, e-filing, and document management systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
· Assist with preparing legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and written discovery
· Organize and maintain case files, exhibits and documents
· Review and proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
· Assist in the preparation of trial exhibits
· Assist with document production and discovery requests
· Review documents in document management systems such as Relativity, Disco and Everlaw

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Bachelor’s Degree
· Minimum 3 year of experience working as a Litigation Paralegal or similar role
